- This is an exclusive interview with Mint Global Marketing, a leading international marketing agency.
- According to Mint Global Marketing, a good website should function well, whether on mobile or desktop; it should look great and should have a lot of thought put into its copyright and SEO.
Modern problems require modern solutions, and there’s no one better at modern marketing than Mint Global Marketing. The tools and techniques used for digital and online marketing change almost on a yearly basis.
With that being said, there are certain principles that a business should know when it comes to marketing that will almost never change. I decided to interview the experts at Mint Global Marketing to work out some of these principles and get some advice for modern digital marketing.
Here’s how that interview went down.
Where should a business start when it comes to its digital marketing strategy?
Always start with the website. We spent a lot of time planning and creating our Mint Global Marketing website and are incredibly proud of the outcome.
A good website should function well, whether on mobile or desktop; it should look great and should have a lot of thought put into its copyright and SEO.
A website is the first thing people will really notice about your company, so it needs to look professional and legitimate.
Do you have any tips for creating a professional website?
Well, there are a lot of tools available nowadays for website creation. Our advice would be to learn tools like Bootstrap and WordPress or outsource to someone that knows how to use these tools.
It has never been as fast or easy as creating a modern-looking website with full mobile functionality. You just have to know how to use the tools or find someone to use those tools.
That’s great, but how do you get people to go to your website in the first place?
This is where the real marketing comes in, and it will primarily take place on social media. Sites like Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, Facebook, etc.
You’re going to want to look into paid advertising methods on these sites, as well as via Google. Organic reach used to be the main strategy, but that has changed within the last few years.
With that being said, you’re still going to want to be on every single social media platform you can be on.
How do you use these platforms to reach people? What do you post?
What you post or how you use social media will be entirely dependent on your brand and which platform you’re using. Instagram should be for showing off your aesthetic and product.
You don’t want to go overboard on advertising; no one will follow your Instagram page if you only post pictures and videos of your product. The same goes for Twitter. No one wants Tweet after Tweet of advertisements hogging their feed.
Keep your advertisement posts to a minimum, use social media to engage with your users, and let paid advertisements handle the advertising.
How do you know if a post is working? Or a particular type of post?
We look at numbers only. And we are very systematic. We will try one particular type of post; let’s say we Tweet out a question.
We will look at how many likes, retweets, and followers we get from that post. The next day we may try Tweeting a funny GIF and measure the same metrics. Take a look at our Twitter page @tweetmintglobal for inspiration.
We keep detailed notes about these metrics over a month or so, and now we know what works for this particular brand.
Handling our own social media progress is no different from running our clients’ campaigns. Should you decide to work with the Pros at Mint Global Marketing, we will reassess our approach every now and then to stay relevant and ensure our strategy still works.
