So much has been said in the last decade about the rise in popularity of treatments which people are looking to get, both beauty treatments and cosmetic treatments and I have to be honest, I have never had an issue with little tweaks. I do have friends who have taken things much further with their cosmetic procedures and the truth is that anyone can do whatever they want to do with their own bodies.
Personally I had never wanted sweeping changes but the thought of botox was one which I was interested in. When it comes to administering botox Chicago has a huge range of beauty clinics and surgeries where you can have this done, so I did some scouting around and then found the perfect spot. I wanted to quickly write my experience to share with you what you can expect when you decide to have some botox.
Cost and Procedure
In total I paid $300 for 20 units of botox, these would be administered in 4 places around the head which was 2 in the forehead and 1 at the edge of either eye. These are the common places where botox is administered because it is where the wrinkles often form.
The procedure itself was super simple, first off I spoke with my beauty therapist who told me what she believed would be the right amount for me to have in order to get the desired result. Once this was done and agreed, we proceeded with the injections. These were very slight nicks in the skin, no pain at all, and just a little bit uncomfortable. As the botox was being injected I felt a warmth but nothing more. The entire administration of 20 units took less than 30 seconds, pretty simple really.
The Aftermath
Instantly after my appointment I had been told to continue to make a variety of facial expressions for around 10 minutes, such as shock, surprise and beaming smile. I was told that I would see results in the week that followed. I would say that I started to really nice a difference in those wrinkles by the 7 day mark and after 9 days they were gone entirely, with only a very small line which was visible, this was amazing and that moment was worth the procedure.
Long Lasting and Tips
I have a friend who had this procedure completed and she lost the results after around 3 months, which she was pretty disappointed by. I must say however that my friend was as smoker and she didn’t look after her skin as well as she should have done. Personally it was between 4 and 5 months that I began to see the results fade and after 6 months everything was back to normal.
It is recommended that you don’t have back to back botox because of the fact that you could end up getting used to it and the effect will be less. Another key tip is to always ensure that the botox is in date, if it is not then you run the risk of problems, or having issues with the efficiency of the product.
